The Itconic MAD4 Data Center and the hot retrofit of the Atos Data Center in Tres Cantos, both designed by Quark, have been selected finalists in the enerTIC Awards 2017, within the “Smart Data Center” category.
In the case of Itconic we are talking about a Tier IV Design & Facility Data Center that was designed, built and certified in a record time of 4 months. For this purpose, “Fast Track” methodology was used with the design and construction phases in parallel. This was made possible by the use of the latest technologies available in the construction sector, such as 3D laser scanning and BIM design. The great experience of the participants, combined with these technologies made possible this milestone never before achieved.
In the case of Atos the difficulty was in the different actions to perform without any downtime. The new systems implemented, which allow the improvement in availability, energy efficiency and the reduction of operating costs, have been the renewal of the UPS (Branch A in phase 2017 and branch B in phase 2018) in order to obtain a notorious improved conversion efficiency and air conditioning costs, resulting in a reduction in the PUE and maintenance costs.
“Once again, our projects are among the selected for awards within the sector. This level of excellence has become a standard, which is being valued very important among customers. The best thing is that we are working for both on new projects and solutions, which we are very grateful for, “said Ricardo Abad, Managing Director of Quark.
