The Data Center located in Santana de Parnaiba, São Paulo, wins the DCD Award LATAM 2017 in the category “Best Data Center of Service Provider”.
The building of more than 20,000 sqm built and more than 8,000 sqm of IT Room can accommodate more than 2,800 racks. It has in its facilities a substation of its own equipped in phase 1 to give 13.3 MW expandable to 20 MW.
Among its innovations it is possible to emphasize its great energy efficiency, something usual in the projects of Quark. For the first time in Latin America an indirect freecooling system combined with adiabatic cooling was used, supported with rain water harvesting. The decision was made after careful analysis in conceptual phase of six different refrigeration technologies applied to the climate of São Paulo. It was an important decision that conditioned the building’s architecture for an installation of almost 12 MW of cooling capacity.
The scope of Quark in this project was Conceptual Design, Detail Design and management of Tier III Design Certification by Uptime Institute.
“It is certainly one of the best projects we have done, where we were able to work for a great customer. I still remember the enthusiasm with which we approached it and the effort it entailed for the Quark team that got to have 20 people dedicated to it, some of whom are not with us at this moment. This award is also for them and I am glad that they lived with us the realization of a winning project “, said Ricardo Abad, Managing Director of Quark.
